Almost exactly two months after the passing of Nintendo’s beloved president, Satoru Iwata, the company has announced that Tatsumi Kimishima has taken on the influential position on September 16th, 2015.
Kimishima has secured numerous important business roles within branches of Nintendo in recent years. Using his strong background in business, he became greatly involved in managing The Pokémon Company in 2000. By 2002, he was leading Nintendo of America as president, up until 2006 when Reggie Fils-Aimé, the current president, took the chair. And by 2013, Kimishima was promoted to Managing Director of Nintendo Co., Ltd.
Thanks to Kimishima’s past influences, Nintendo has maintained its successful place in the gaming industry, so it’s going to be interesting to see how his business savvy will affect the company from here on out. There are several developments worth taking note of regarding Kimishima’s new role, one of them being Nintendo’s new partnership with mobile company DeNA. At the moment, the public knows few details about the direction Nintendo and DeNA plan to take gaming. That news, combined with information we’ve received about the new generation of Nintendo platforms (both the home console and the handheld), have led to countless speculations by gaming fans.
All that said, the possibilities for Nintendo’s future seem to have caused interest to peak throughout this last year. The company has had its share of ups and downs with successful products like amiibo and the somewhat disappointing release, like the Wii U. With leadership from Kimishima, a new sense of direction could be extremely beneficial for Nintendo.Leave a Comment
