Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that Pikmin 4 is not only in development but near completion in an interview with Eurogamer last month.
“It’s actually very close to completion,” Miyamoto said. “Pikmin teams are always working on the next one.”
Nintendo of America then confirmed the news with Eurogamer in a separate statement.
“We can confirm that Pikmin 4 is in development but that is all we can confirm at present.”
There is no news at the moment regarding which console the latest installment of the Pikmin franchise will land on, but it’s likely to be released on a current generation of hardware due to how far in the development process the game is at the moment. Perhaps we’ll finally see a 3DS installment of the beloved series come to life through Pikmin 4.
