Shovel Knight fans rejoice! If rumors are to be believed, the platforming character could be the latest downloadable fighter delving into Super Smash Bros.

According to a YouTube video posted by Tamaki, an Unseen64 and Nintendo Life contributor, a “very strong tip-off from a reliable source” has indicated that Shovel Knight could potentially be headed to copies of Smash Bros. across the globe. Furthermore, Tamaki claims the rumor has been “corroborated by multiple reputable contacts involved with retail from around the world.”

The rumor has arrived following the promise of a “megaton reveal” next week by Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games. Additionally, according to the video posted by Tamaki, PAX Prime will play host to a number of Nintendo kiosks running Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, which Tamaki speculates could be used to promote the new playable character.

In line with the rumor, Shovel Knight’s debut is expected to be announced within the next two months.

So, what do you think? Does the rumor hold any merit? Would you welcome the 8-bit hero to join the fray? Leave your thoughts in a comment below!
