Rainmaker, Splatoon’s long-awaited third ranked mode, is finally coming to the game tomorrow night. Like Tower Control, the objective in Rainmaker is to escort something from the center of the map to a point near the opposing team’s base. Instead of an on-rails tower, though, the object in question is an ultra powerful weapon.

When the five minute match begins, both teams rush to the weapon in the center of the map. After bursting the bubble that surrounds it, one Inkling can pick up the Rainmaker and start heading toward their opponent’s base. This super-weapon functions like an Inkzooka with unlimited ammo, except that each shot must be charged. The longer you charge the Rainmaker, the larger its ink-nadoes will be. And unlike Tower Control, the person wielding it gets to decide the route to take into enemy territory.

Since the Rainmaker is visible on all players’ maps at all times, wielding it makes you the center of attention. You’ll need a rock solid team of escorts or amazing whirlwind skills to bring the Rainmaker to its destination and score a knockout!

Check out the reveal video below, we’ll see you on the splattlefield tomorrow night!
