The Meta Knight amiibo, which was exclusive to Best Buy stores, hasn’t been seen in the wild since the day it was released, with the exception of the Nintendo World Store in New York City. While the elusive amiibo has been keeping collectors frustrated for months, there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel, in the form of a re-release of the coveted figurine.

As reported earlier, several thousand Meta Knights have shown up in inventory lists for distribution centers on both coasts of the United States in the last several weeks. There was no notation indicating where the Meta Knights would go, how many each store would get, when they would ship, or when Best Buy locations would be able to sell them to eager amiibo fans. Up until now, all we’ve been able to uncover is that they are sitting there, just waiting for distribution.

Two separate sources on two different coasts, both with intimate knowledge of the information, have confirmed that Best Buy stores will begin receiving shipments of Meta Knight amiibo on May 20th. They will be permitted to sell their stock on May 29th. Yes, that’s right: the very same day as Wave 4 of the Super Smash Bros. amiibo, the Splatoon amiibo and the Silver Mario amiibo!

With Toys ‘R’ Us and Target both having store exclusives (Greninja and Jigglypuff, respectively), it appears that Best Buy wanted to make a splash on “amiibo Friday” as well.
