About a week out from a 3D Mario celebration, today’s the day to remember a different kind of Mushroom Kingdom throwback. Five years ago today Super Mario Maker arrived on Wii U, giving players the power to craft their own courses and share them with the world. Though it’s been replaced by its sequel in almost every regard (except amiibo functionality), it’s still more than worth celebrating the original.

Nintendo seems to think so too, as it shared the above commemoration in honor of the milestone. While it could be enjoyed as a game, and one with tons of replayability at that, what really made Super Mario Maker something was its existence as a platform to bring on everything from entertaining auto coasters and nearly impossible creations.
If you missed out on Mario Maker in its earliest run, you might’ve also missed the book it came with. Thankfully Nintendo hasn’t forgotten that freebie, letting it share the spotlight and also reminding fans that you can check out the Super Mario Maker booklet online.
