During tonight’s pre-show for The Video Game awards, Bill Trinen joined host Geoff Keighley to debut a brand new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The new footage gave us a glimpse of parts of the world beyond (and above) the Great Plateau, with a focus on Hyrule’s inhabitants. The beautiful sweeping grasslands and wooded areas that we’ve seen before give way to civilization, revealing small towns and villages filled with guards on patrol and people going about their daily routines. Breath of the Wild suddenly seems like a much less lonely adventure.

A few characters, aside from Link, were given some special screentime. Link comes face to face with what looks like a Rito, joining the many other Wind Waker references in the game, who then absconds to what appears to be a flying bird-shaped fortress in the sky. We also see a few brief glimpses of a woman dressed in garb the closely resembles the now-iconic blue and gold tunic that Link wears in Breath of the Wild.

Stay tuned for more debut footage of Breath of the Wild as tonight’s show continues.
