Ever wondered what the story behind the Smash Bros. logo was all about?
If you’re a longtime player, you might be interested to hear what series creator Masahiro Sakurai recently stated in a video shared on Nintendo Japan’s YouTube channel. When asked what the logo represented, Sakurai said that the two intersecting lines signify the crossover nature of the series and that the circle divided into the four sections epitomizes four-person multiplayer.
We always figured there was a solid sense of logic behind the emblem’s design, but we’d never known the exact reasoning behind it. Needless to say, it’s nice to finally hear how the logo’s origins came to be directly from Sakurai after all these years! If you’re interested in watching him answer the question on camera while he plays Smash, check out the footage below. (Keep in mind that the stream is in Japanese.)
