In the past there’s been debate over whether Smash is truly a fighting game, and while it might not match up exactly with some of the staples of the genre it’s managed to feature pretty much all of them in some way. Case and point, Sega’s loaning out the main character of Virtua Fighter as an Assist Trophy.

Akira Yuki brings plenty of moves, but most striking of all has to be his appearance. Coming in as blocky polygons, he adopts the way he looked in the first groundbreaking Virtua Fighter. With multiple attacks (and quotes) to throw out, he’s a great addition and even if he’s not playable it’s still a step up from Mii Fighter costume.
