One of the low-key best reveals of the last Smash Direct was that the Mega Man series was extending beyond the Classics and embracing more corners of the franchise. Revealing both Zero as an Assist Trophy and a new arrangement of the opening stage from Mega Man X is hopefully just the beginning of a broader take of the series. Don’t get me wrong, Classic Mega Man is the one that belongs in this game, but for an Assist, this Dr. Wily creation is the perfect compliment to the Blue Bomber and his eventual legacy.
Zero appears from the #MegaMan series as an Assist Trophy in Super #SmashBros Ultimate. Just like in his original appearance, he uses his learned moves to wreak havoc on stage! pic.twitter.com/BPl8WIV6T1

Zero looks to be another Assist with multiple tricks, utilizing his techniques from across his game appearances. In these shots alone we get to see what look like both the Hienkyaku and Hadangeki, letting him get around and attack from a distance as needed. Hopefully by the time Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out he’ll know what he’s fighting for.
