It might’ve taken Ness’ hometown three Smash appearances before it got its original music, but one thing’s been a constant in Onett since Melee – those terrible drivers. Don’t they see there’re pedestrians here?! Someone needs to tell the police captain to quit it with the Super Ultra Mambo-Tango-Foxtrot business and get back on the streets. That black tour bus in particular is way out of control, and can hit you for 30% damage to boot!
Sidewalk shenanigans aside, the rooftops and awnings of Onett are looking better than ever in Ultimate. It was always one of my favorite “grounded” stages, both for all the EarthBound love and just having a fun layout and look. It’s got some more fantastical competition now thanks to Magicant making the jump to HD, but I have a feeling I’ll still be dodging cars plenty come December.
