While we knew Nintendo Switch Online was launching in September, we didn’t know exactly when. While we’re still in the dark to a specific release date, Nintendo has at least confirmed that the service is starting in the latter half of the month.
#NintendoSwitchOnline will launch in the second half of September. The service provides access to online play & Save Data Cloud backup in compatible games and a growing library of NES titles with added online play.https://t.co/74Hzxk9spt pic.twitter.com/JtNgmjnilE

This means you have just over a month to play your online games for free. After that point, you’ll have to pay $3.99 a month, $7.99 for three months, or $19.99 for a full year. The service will also grant you access to online-enabled NES games and cloud-based save data backups.
