Whether you’re celebrating a Splatfest in Inkopolis Square, getting spurred to victory when your favorite song plays in a match, or just arguing whether the Squid Sisters or Off the Hook are better, there’s no denying the power of Splatoon 2’s music.
Recently the second soundtrack album, Octotune, was released in Japan. Bringing not just the Octo Expansion tracks to players’ ears, it also includes post release Splatoon 2 tracks as well as the all too crucial songs from Off the Hook and the Squid Sisters. Not only has it sold well enough to rank 7th on Oricon’s album ranking list, bur it’s also managed to outsell the original Splatune album.
This speaks volumes both on Splatoon’s overall popularity and the retention of the game, along with the reception of the Octo Expansion. That or people just really love those squid idols, and who can really blame them? No matter your views on the last Splatfest, it’s clear that this time Octopus has managed to outdo Squid.
