When it comes to multiplayer on the Gamecube, two kings stand atop a mountain of Mario Parties and dunk on Double Dash. Few games have taken over my life quite like Super Smash Bros. Melee did, and the City Trial mode of Kirby Air Ride was a revelation. Now, fifteen years later, these two titans have come together under the watchful eye of their original designer Masahiro Sakurai.
That’s right, the City Trial theme is coming back as a track in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Once again you can scramble against your friends to claim victory to the driving drums and sublime strings of this new arrangement courtesy of Noriyuki Iwadare. Having previously given us the excellent Meta Knight’s Revenge theme from Brawl (among several others), it’s great to have him back at the helm of another splendid Kirby song.
