If you’re anything like me, landing in Bonneton for the first time and taking in its foggy, moonlit atmosphere was a highlight of Super Mario Odyssey. Drawing you into its world and just how distinct kingdoms could be compared to Mario’s usual stomping grounds, I explored every last inch of it I could right away. With this newest concept art to come to light, I’m getting those feelings all over again.
Here’s some concept art for Bonneton! The hat motif that defines the area is infused in all kinds of places. Even the grass looks like the felt of a hat. The number of colors were also limited to make the moon look as impressive as possible! #SuperMarioOdyssey pic.twitter.com/bxkDhOiJTD

It’s the little details that really make this, though. Apparently, the grass was inspired by hat felt to really drive that motif already seen in the lights, buildings, and citizens. The color choice, on the other hand, was meant to bring out the moon, making for a great visual and setting the stage for the later parts of the game.
Be on the lookout for more Odyssey art, both of the concept and hint varieties, as Nintendo continues to show off one of its finest games.
