Tomorrow will bring some new, friendly faces to Kirby Star Allies. These longtime Kirby friends (and one jester who’s never been all that friendly) will join the other playable Dream Friends and offer ways to play through the game’s modes by joining in with Kirby on his main quest.
Each of the three breakdowns focuses on one of the playable characters. The first goes through Rick, Kine, and Coo’s history as Kirby’s oldest buddies and shows off what they can do. It gives a look at versions of their old abilities updated to the new game, and how they’ll be switching places when on land, in the water, and flying through the sky. There are still some surprises though: Rick gets a new version of the curling stone ability that had its image blocked out.
Gooey’s up next, giving a look at his tongue wagging style. He’s also bringing his take on old copy abilities, like Paraso, Burning, and Stone — and the fun little bit of info that his tongue can give Friends water abilities and is strong enough to Friend Throw. He’s also got a bit of his moveset held back as a surprise, though it must do with his ability to fly around like longtime Kirby foe Dark Matter.
Finally, that takes us to Marx, the least friendly of the three. His ball looks to behave just like Bomb, save for being able to roll around on top of it, but it’s once he takes to the skies that things get interesting. He’ll take on his final boss form from Super Star, firing off cosmic magic and mysterious powers that can be imbued with elements thanks to Friends.
You can try all of these when they arrive as free DLC in Kirby Star Allies tomorrow. All of them are welcome, and while Marx looks the most in-depth and powerful, nothing’s going to beat the Animal Buddy trio in my heart.
