1080° Snowboarding, a classic for the N64, is undergoing a revival (of the trademark kind) in Europe.
The game is turning 20 years old next month, so you could argue that something might be planned for this anniversary. If you do a little research though, you’d find that the process for renewing trademarks in Europe must be done every 10 years. While this latest trademark was filed on December 18th, 2017, the game’s first trademark dates back to March 17th, 1998. Nearly a 20 year difference there, Nintendo is more than likely complying with the legal process so that 1080° Snowboarding continues to be protected.
Sure, this could mean the game may make an appearance on the fabled N64 Mini, or that the game’s port on the Wii Virtual Console points to the possibility of 1080° making an appearance on the Nintendo Switch equivalent. For the time being, we’ll all just have to wait and see.
