Super Bomberman R was one of the first Switch games I played, and while it had more than a handful of issues when it first released, the series of updates it’s received over time have both ironed out those wrinkles and added some much-needed polish. The two biggest of these have been the guest characters from Konami games like Castlevania, Gradius and plenty more; and the the recently added Grand Prix.

An all new video’s gone up to promote these developments, featuring the Bombermen siblings in their Saturday morning cartoon stylings once again. Having Dracula, Vic Viper and Bomberman having a conversation isn’t something I ever imagined seeing, and yet here we are. It goes on to briefly explain the Grand Prix, why the crossover characters are here and the Bombers’ ability to use the skills of the guests.

While not on the scale of characters or modes, a new minor patch for the game has just come to the Switch in order to reduce lag in the online Grand Prix mode, among other minor fixes. Hopefully the bigger updates haven’t stopped, as the likes of Contra, Suikoden, Pop’n Music and of course Metal Gear could all use some love.

When he isn’t writing for Nintendo Wire, Ricky’s anticipating the next Kirby, Fire Emblem, or if the stars ever align, Mother 3 to be released. Till then he’ll have the warm comfort of Super Smash Bros. to keep him going.
