Halloween is mere moons away and it looks like Fire Emblem Heroes is set to celebrate with all the usual holiday suspects. The new Trick or Defeat event will bring fresh maps, missions and bonuses but what everybody wants to see are the costumed characters out to stir up some fright and delight.

Once again it’s the characters from Awakening and Fates getting to headline, though there’s some extra unique traits and ideas bubbling in this brew of Heroes. First is Sakura, now a dagger user. The Hoshidan princess is all done up as a nekomata and out to counter mages of all colors. From Nohr we’ve got Jakob channeling Frankenstein’s monster. He seems to be an armored archer, a combination the game hasn’t put together before. With defenses like his, it won’t be long before you can safely say this butler’s committed a murder or two.

Speaking of new combinations, Henry will summon the spirits of the dead with his green tome. Dressed in vampire garb and dragging his own coffin around, he may very well be the game’s first armored mage. If so he’ll be able to take some hits before bringing on the CAW-lamity with his crow companions. Last but not least is Nowi, trading in her Dragon Stone for a red tome and broom. That’s right, she’s a flying red mage like other seasonal heroes before her. Looking cute as can be and with skills to spare, who’d deny this witch a candy or two?

These hauntingly good characters will ring your door bells starting October 30th, and as always players will have one free summon to try their luck. From skills and unique traits alone they all sound worthwhile, and with some great Focuses having come along before this one it’s tough to be free to play right about now. To all who are hoping for treats over tricks, as always: good luck!
