Say it isn’t so! If you were hoping that last month’s bit of datamine text concerning Miiverse’s closure was a joke, then Nintendo squashed that with adding the final nail in Miiverse’s coffin. Making waves last night, Nintendo’s Japanese Twitter account made the announcement. This morning Nintendo updated their Nintendo Support database with information on the closure as well as posting the announcement on Miiverse itself.

Miiverse, Wii U Chat and Nintendo TVii will be going offline on November 8th at 3:00 p.m. Japan Time. Nintendo of America has posted the shutdown times as well – November 7th at 10:00 p.m. PT and November 8th at 1:00 a.m ET. Though this doesn’t apply to Nintendo TVii, as it has already had its service terminated in North America on August 11th, 2015.

If you want to keep your Miiverse post history, Nintendo has created a page on the Miiverse online portal site with full details. The request must be made before the shutdown and the link you’ll be sent will only contain images that you have posted.

As for what games will be affected by the shutdown, Nintendo has included a full list with one interesting caveat. Super Mario Maker? Looks like the game will come out unscathed as a tiny little astrisk proclaims: “Super Mario Maker will be updated to allow users to continue sharing courses once Miiverse ends. More will be announced as we get closer to the Miiverse closure date.”

For those who have been massive fans of the service, it’s time to come up with a proper send off. Luckily there’s still a chance we will see it having a possible successor – Splatoon 2’s funny mailbox that lets us draw to our heart’s content is instilling hope. Who’s to say it won’t come back in another form thanks to another game?
