Good news, Smash fans! Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Melee have been added to the 34th year of Major League Gaming 2015 Finals lineup.

If you’re not familiar with Major League Gaming (MLG), now might be a good time to sit back and get acquainted with it. MLG is a professional eSports organization that’s held official video game (both computer and console) tournaments in the U.S. and Canada since 2002. The events garner a good amount of coverage and publicity and are normally broadcasted on ESPN. So even if you’re unable to attend the competitions in person, you have the option to tune and cheer on gamers from home.

Halo, Call of Duty and World of Warcraft are a few examples of major titles that normally fill the gaming roster. Starting in 2004, Super Smash Bros. Melee was added to the lineup and returned for people to take part in and watch throughout the next decade. And now, with MLG 2015 just around the corner, it’s been announced that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be joining the cast of games. Hype!

The official Major League Gaming site posted details specifically covering the Smash events:

“Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Melee will both feature a double-elimination tournament with up to 256 Players competing for $10,000 in prize money. Both Tournaments will begin at 2 PM CDT on Friday, October 16 and crown a champion on Sunday.”

This year’s events will take place in New Orleans on from October 16th to the 18th. If you haven’t checked out MLG coverage before, watching gamers from around the U.S. and Canada battle it out together in not just one, but two titles, might be a good reason for you to tune in this time!
