We have known Epic Games would be supporting the Nintendo Switch with Unreal Engine ever since the reveal date, but we’ve never really been clear in what capacity.
Now, however, we finally have an idea – according to Epic Games Japan manager Takayuki Kawasaki there are a “lot of titles” using Unreal Engine heading to the system. In the interview with Japanese website Social VR (translated via Nintendo Everything), he also states that it includes already announced titles and those yet to be shown off.
This opens the door to third party support quite considerably, considering how many games are now being made in Unreal Engine 4. Just in Japan we have Square-Enix adopting the engine for Kingdom Hearts III, Final Fantasy VII: Remake and Dragon Quest XI, which would be pretty major gets for Nintendo.
We’ll be sure to bring you more news regarding the Switch as we lead up to its January 12th reveal.
