If you’ve been holding off on getting some of Lego’s various video game themed sets, your time is running out. As reported by fan site Brick Fanatics, Lego is set to retire 34 different video game sets at the end of this year. This news follows the previous report of Lego’s announcement back in May that the company would be retiring 15 sets that also included Mario, Zelda, and Animal Crossing series. Expected to be gone by December 31st, 2026, are sets from across Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Bros, and Animal Crossing, among others. Outside of games, Lego is even getting rid of sets based on Star Wars, X-Men, Fifa, and various Disney films.
None of the sets seem to be premium tier ones, which include the Great Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda. That set was previously retired, but the Ocarina of Time Final Battle set is still available on Lego’s website. Everything being retired this time is more child-oriented, which means they likely won’t sell out anytime soon. Despite retiring the sets from its catalog, Lego doesn’t pull products from store shelves. You can still get lucky going to your local stores or checking hobby websites to find any sets that are discontinued. Retiring just means that once stock is gone, it’s gone.
