While Stellar Blade has more in common with NieR: Automata than Bayonetta, that doesn’t mean there isn’t some crossover. Heck, the Nintendo Switch 2 port of Stellar Blade will launch with a Bayonetta costume pack (which is also planned for PC and PlayStation), so clearly the game’s director, Kim Hyung-tae, is interested in PlatinumGames’ genre-defining action title. In a recent interview with Famitsu magazine, he even said as such, joking he’d love to work on a new Bayonetta game if given the chance.
The interview was held with Kim and PlatinumGames’ Atsushi Inana, CEO of the company. The comment, in question, came from a discussion about how this Bayonetta costume DLC came about. Kim started by saying, “please let me design the characters for the next Bayonetta game.” Inaba laughed at the audacity of the comment, but Kim continued, “If PlatinumGames would make a desk for me, I’d come every day.”

The Bayonetta-inspired costume
Earlier in the interview, Kim stated that Bayonetta was in his top three favorite games, becoming an indispensable part of his life. He notes that, “This game is like a huge gift in my life, so I hope it continues for a long time. Bayonetta 10 (laughs)! I hope they’ll make it up to.” Inaba then added, “I felt that Stellar Blade is a model example of how games should be made… It’s amazing how meticulously it’s all been crafted.”
While I wouldn’t say this is pointing towards a Bayonetta 4 actually happening, it does seem like both PlatinumGames and Stellar Blade developer Shift Up have a mutual respect. Maybe we’ll see something happen in the future.
