With the conclusion of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships yesterday, The Pokémon Company has revealed where next year’s competition will take place. Taking place from August 13-15, 2027, competitors from around the world will held to Singapore to prove they are the greatest Pokémon trading card player on Earth. This will be the second time an event has been held in Asia, with 2023’s World Championships having been held in Yokohama, Japan.
A trailer for the announcement reveals some of the iconography competitors can expect to see in Singapore. Celebi, Lapras, and Solgaleo will play a part of the merchandising and advertisements, with Pikachu obviously being the head honcho of all Pokémon related marketing. TPC has confirmed that PokémonXP, an interactive website for fans to engage with the competition from home, will not be featured in next year’s event.
According to VGC, the 2026 Pokémon World Championships saw 50,000 attendees converge on the Moscone Center in San Francisco. That makes this year’s competition the largest one yet, with next year’s likely to grow even bigger thanks to its new locale. Having run for more than 20 years now, the Pokémon World Championships are firmly cemented as an annual event that fans won’t want to miss.
