Two new TV commercials for Zach Cregger’s upcoming Resident Evil movie have been shared online, with one offering a glimpse at a new canine creature.
The teaser ends with protagonist Bryan (played by Austin Abrams) confronting a vicious dog poking its head through a hole in a fence. As it relentlessly barks at him, Bryan comically asks, “Why are you so mean, man?” The dog then unleashes its mutated form, its head splitting open and grabbing Bryan with tentacles.
Another TV spot for the film has also emerged, though it mostly contains footage seen in previous trailers.
Infected dogs are a regular enemy in the Resident Evil games, taking on a number of different forms. The Cerberus was a result of Umbrella’s bio-organic weapon testing in the first game, while Zombie Dogs were secondary infectants of the Raccoon City t-Virus outbreak in the second and third installments.
The creature in Cregger’s movie, however, is more similar to the Colmillos from Resident Evil 4 — Las Plagas-infested wolves that can whip victims with tentacles that emerge from their bodies.
Cregger, director of previous horror flicks Barbarian and Weapons, is rebooting the Resident Evil film franchise with his latest movie. It follows medical courier Byran as he embarks on a mission to deliver an important package through the nightmarish Raccoon City.
Resident Evil will be released in theatres on September 18th, 2026. It is co-written by Zach Cregger and Shay Hatten, and stars Austin Abrams, Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, Paul Walter Hauser, and Jonno Wilson.
