A theory posed by the Legend of Zelda community – regarding the release date of the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake – has gained traction online.
A user on Reddit believes that the Nintendo Switch 2 title will launch on November 12th, 2026, based on some Kirby Air Riders amiibo listings and Nintendo’s previous release habits.
The poster shared links to since-removed Nintendo Store UK listings for the “Sword Kirby & Dragoon” and “Noir Dedede & Hydra” amiibo, which slated the figures for a November 12th release. They explained why this could be a hint at Ocarina of Time’s launch date.
“amiibo generally release on the same day as a Nintendo-published game and Nintendo has no currently announced games for November,” the Reddit user said.
November 12th is a Thursday, which the poster noted would be “consistent with Nintendo’s release schedule.” The post has garnered over 300 comments, with most agreeing that the date seems plausible.
Notably, this would mean that Ocarina of Time would launch one week before Grand Theft Auto VI, a release considered so momentous that many competing publishers seem to be avoiding the November release window entirely. Since Rockstar’s hotly anticipated sandbox title will not be released on Switch 2, however, the Nintendo-exclusive Ocarina would largely be competing for a different audience.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake was revealed in June’s Nintendo Direct, with the trailer confirming it will be released in 2026. The game received an E10+ age rating from the ESRB earlier this week.
