As part of its latest quarterly financial earnings report, Capcom has stated that the potential of a sequel to Pragmata is very high following its impressive debut.

In a report from Bloomberg, Capcom corporate officer Yoshikazu Shimauchi stated that, “the likelihood of a sequel is high,” when referring to Pragmata’s sales momentum, which exceeded Capcom’s expectations. The company hopes it can mold the game into a “pillar franchise and a source of longer-term revenue,” which sounds a lot worse than Shimauchi probably meant it to.

For its part, Capcom believes the appeal of Pragmata is not only in its gameplay, but the character of Diana. Bringing a child-like innocence to the proceedings, the internet basically fell in love with Diana and wanted to protect her like a parental figure. She plays a key part in the story of the game, which hits on themes of found family and pressing forward to ensure a better future for the citizens of tomorrow.

The possibility of a sequel isn’t too surprising considering Pragmata director Yonghee Cho already stated he’d love to see one. While I wouldn’t expect it to happen for a few years, at least it seems like Capcom wants to continue developing the idea further.
