Toys for Bob has released some concept art from the early development stages of the upcoming Spyro: A Realm Beyond.
Following the game’s reveal trailer earlier this month, many fans noticed that Spyro appears to have aged a bit since his appearance in the original trilogy. The newly revealed concept art reinforces that Spyro may have been designed with a slightly more mature look in mind.
The artwork shows Spyro with “teenage beard scales,” a longer tail and horns, and larger wings. The artist also made an effort to give the dragon a more “dynamic” silhouette, using art from the 1999 Batman Beyond animated series as inspiration.

Spyro: A Realm Beyond release date
Spyro: A Realm Beyond is the first new game in the franchise for almost 20 years. It will launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in Spring 2027.
Toys for Bob previously developed the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, a 2018 compilation featuring remasters of the first three Spyro the Dragon games. The Trilogy was ported to Nintendo Switch in 2019, with Nintendo Wire’s review stating: “The Reignited Trilogy looks wonderful and plays just like it used to — but most of all, I love taking my dragon pal on the go with me.”
