Nintendo’s latest financial report has revealed some staggering statistics regarding its popular social sim, Pokémon Pokopia.
The earnings report states that the game shifted over 4 million units in its first five weeks. With 20 million Switch 2 consoles sold, that means that roughly one in every five owners of the system picked up Pokopia.
This makes Pokopia the third bestselling Switch 2 game, and it is already catching up to Donkey Kong Bananza in second place (with 4.5 million copies sold). Mario Kart World remains on top with 14.7 million units sold.
“Pokémon Pokopia is being picked up by a broad range of players regardless of gender,” the report reads, “and many are using the features, such as GameShare, that are exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2.”
“By continuing to release these kinds of compelling titles for Nintendo Switch 2, we aim to convey the appeal of the platform to our consumers who play on Nintendo Switch.”
Joe Merrick, owner of popular Pokémon fansite Serebii, compiled a list of all Pokémon spin-off titles (thanks, GamesRadar). The list reveals that Pokopia is already the fifth bestselling game among them.
Pokémon Pokopia is currently the 5th best selling Pokémon spin-off game of all time (dedicated gaming device exclusive) based on the known sales figures
We'll unlikely have any further full sales figures due to Nintendo excluding Japan from their data like they did with New Snap https://t.co/DKB0vLVm2E pic.twitter.com/Q3MPVu9yoJ

Since Pokopia has only been available for a short time, it likely won’t be long before it climbs higher up the list.
Pokémon Pokopia is available now exclusively on Switch 2. Our glowing review says: “Pokopia is an absolute delight and something any Switch 2 owner should consider. It makes for an accessible entryway into a cozy crafting game like this, and brings plenty of expected delights for both franchise and genre fans.”
