Nintendo’s latest Switch release, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, has skyrocketed up the Japanese sales chart for its first week of sale. According to Famitsu’s weekly sales report, not only is the life sim game incredibly popular, but it’s absolutely stomping the competition when it comes to pure sales numbers.
As we can see from the top 10 games, Tomodachi Life is sitting at number one with around 565,405 copies sold in its debut week. Second place is Capcom’s newly released Pragmata for PlayStation 5, with just 36,470 copies sold. That is roughly 15 times the amount of copies sold between two entries, which is wild. Pragmata for Nintendo Switch 2 doesn’t even show up in the top 10, likely because everyone with a Switch is playing Tomodachi Life.

Elsewhere in the charts is some mainstays like Pokémon Pokopia (19,096 copies this week), Mario Kart World (5,130 copies this week), and Animal Crossing: New Horizons (3,538 copies for Switch 1, 3,067 for Switch 2). Of the top 10, only one game is a non-Nintendo title, which tends to be the trend with Japan.
Here are the top 10 best-selling games for the week of April 12th, 2026. Lifetime totals are included in parentheses:
