Last year’s rather excellent Shinobi: Art of Vengeance will be getting its special DLC stage, titled the “Sega Villains Stage,” on April 3rd, 2026. Available for all platforms and as part of the digital deluxe edition, the bonus stage will include battles against Sonic the Hedgehog’s Dr. Eggman, Yakuza’s Goro Majima, and Golden Axes’ Death Adder.

Interestingly, calling this a single stage is technically incorrect. As the new announcement reveals, this DLC will actually be five stages set across locales from each series. Dr. Eggman’s stage, for instance, is on Green Hill Zone, and squaring up with Majima will take you to the streets of Kamurocho. Players will have the chance to acquire three new ninpo attacks and three new outfits for Joe Musashi. Six new tracks will accompany the DLC, likely from the different games on their respective levels.

 Shinobi’s new Hardcore Mode

On the same day, a new patch for the base Art of Vengeance game will be released that includes what I think is the biggest change to the game: Hardcore Mode. There’s no mention of how radically it changes the main campaign, but Art of Vengeance was a bit too easy for its own good. Having actual risk involved while platforming and fighting enemies should make replays thrilling.

When will Shinobi: Art of Vengeance – Sega Villains DLC release?

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is currently available on Nintendo Switch and other platforms. This “Sega Villains” DLC will release on April 3rd, 2026, and it be available for $8.99 separately.
