If you can believe it, the global economy is in shambles right now. While things aren’t at their absolute lowest, every day is a guessing game for how financial trends are going to swing. I guess even mega corporations like Epic Games are feeling the heat, even after a year that saw player counts break records, saw a 57% increase in third-party game spending on its digital distribution platform, and which posted a total spending on its store to the tune of $1.16 billion. Yes, despite all of that, the price of V-Bucks in Fortnite needs to increase because Epic needs help to “pay the bills.”
In a rather tone-deaf article today, Epic announced that the price of V-Bucks packs across Fortnite will be increasing on March 19th, 2026, to… ugh, “help pay the bills.” In a form of reverse psychology, the chart actually lists how much less you’ll be getting for the same amount, which seems extra scummy to me. For instance, it lists how the $8.99 pack would previously give you 1,000 V-Bucks, but will now be just 800. What a deal! I guess one consolation is that Battle Pass prices have decreased, but you also earn less from them, too. The bonus V-Bucks for completing Battle Passes has been axed entirely.
Here are all the revised totals:
- $8.99 Pack = 800 V-Bucks (Down from 1,000 V-Bucks)
- $22.99 Pack = 2,400 V-Bucks (Down from 2,800 V-Bucks)
- $36.99 Packs = 4,500 V-Bucks (Down from 5,000 V-Bucks)
- $89.99 Packs = 12,500 V-Bucks (Down from 13,500 V-Bucks)
- Exact Amount = $0.99 for 50 V-Bucks (A -$0.50 Change)
The included FAQ notes that previously printed V-Bucks gift cards will still redeem for their original values, so that’s one way to stock up after the change is implemented. It would also be fine to leave the price of V-Bucks as they currently are considering Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has a reported net worth of $5.1 billion.
