Nestled within yesterday’s Nintendo Partner Direct was the announcement that Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf would be coming to Switch and Switch 2 on March 5th, 2026. A sequel to the critically acclaimed 2023 original, the game is a continuation of the “cinematic platformer” style that the first game had. In this sequel, an older Lana takes her companion Mui on another journey to save her hometown, though with more experience than she had years ago.
What’s interesting is that developer Wishfully Studios is launching the game day-and-date on both Nintendo platforms. The first game took a year to come to the original Switch, though that was likely because of a deal with Microsoft to have Planet of Lana debut on Game Pass. This sequel will also hit Game Pass, but it’s coming to basically every gaming console on the planet next month.
If you can’t wait until then to play the game, a demo will be available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on February 11th, 2026. Wishfully states that a Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 demo will be available at a “later date,” though I imagine it won’t be too late. There would be no point doing a demo two days before the game releases, for instance.
