In news that probably won’t be surprising to many, Take-Two has announced that the upcoming port of Borderlands 4 for Nintendo Switch 2 has been indefinitely delayed. Coming from its latest quarterly earnings report, the publisher has removed the title from its slate of upcoming games, and is now putting all of its efforts into WWE 2K26 and Grand Theft Auto 6 (which is not confirmed for Switch 2).

In a statement given to Variety, Take-Two spokesperson Alan Lewis said, “We made the difficult decision to pause development on that SKU [Borderlands 4]. Our focus continues to be delivering quality post-launch content for players on the ongoing improvements to optimize the game. We’re continuing to collaborate closely with our friends at Nintendo. We have ‘PGA Tour 2K25’ coming out and ‘WWE 2K26’ [for Switch 2], and we’re incredibly excited about bringing more of our titles to that platform in the future.”

The rest of the report goes into detail why Rockstar Games removed a fan-made mission in Grand Theft Auto Online that recreated the Charlie Kirk assassination. It’s not terribly surprising why that is the case, though CEO Strauss Zelnick notes the mission violated T2’s terms of service. With regard to Grand Theft Auto 6 receiving another, Zelnick was firm with his response: “That’s not the plan.” That doesn’t mean it won’t be delayed, but currently, the blockbuster crime game is on track for a November 19, 2026, release. I still believe it will head to Switch 2.
