On the same day that publisher Koei Tecmo released its third quarter financial results for the 2025 fiscal year, the company has announced that it will be indefinitely delaying the release of Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered across all platforms. Originally scheduled for a March 19th, 2026, release, the company wrote in a post on social media that it will be delaying the game to ensure it meets the quality expectations of fans of the series. Being that this is the first remaster for any past Dynasty Warriors title, Koei Tecmo doesn’t want to rush things out.

It also gives fans some room to breathe, seeing as how Dynasty Warriors: Origins just released on Nintendo Switch 2. While that game has been available on other platforms for a year now, some new DLC released day-and-date with the Switch 2 port, and expands the main campaign by roughly 10 hours. There’s a lot of Dynasty Warriors to chew through, and racing to finish all of that just a few months ahead of another game might be overkill. It doesn’t help that if you’re a Nintendo loyalist, you would have also just played through Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment (which, coincidentally, has sold over one million copies).

Dynasty Warriors 3 may not be the most cherished installment of the long-running series, but it was the first one to introduce the majority of concepts that would come to define Dynasty Warriors (such as split-screen and Ultimate attacks). It was also the first game in the series to cross one million sales, not to mention receive an expansion pack titled “Xtreme Legends” that would become a series staple. While you might be thinking Dynasty Warriors 2 deserves that honor, 3 is basically a souped up version of that with more story, more battles, more characters, and better game feel.

So what is the new release date for Dynasty Warriors 3?

For now, we don’t know when Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered will be making its grand return. When it does resurface, it is planned for release on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and Switch 2.
