If you thought Nintendo would only have one Direct presentation this month, then you’re probably like everyone else, and you should pat yourself on the back. You’re sane. Still, the reality is that Nintendo is somehow holding a second Direct this week, with a focus on the upcoming Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream for Switch.

Scheduled to air on January 29th, 2026, at 9 a.m. ET, the presentation will run for roughly 20 minutes, and will divulge all manner of information about the sequel. I’m not sure how complex Tomodachi Life can be that it needs 20 minutes to explain, but that could also mean this game is a lot bigger than most people were thinking. If I had to guess, there’s probably going to be a new multiplayer mode or maybe some method of connecting with friends to share funny stories. Tomodachi does mean “friend” in Japanese, after all.

The most likely bit of information we’ll get is a release date. Living the Dream was announced last March during a Direct presentation, but Nintendo had only given a vague Q2 2026 release window. This Direct will certainly cover more than just a date for 20 minutes, but that will probably be the closer for this stream. We won’t have to wait too long to find out, either way.
