As many fans had speculated, it seems that Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s upcoming DLC will be introducing Z forms for mega evolutions. In a new trailer this morning, Game Freak confirmed that Mega Lucario Z will be making its debut in Mega Dimension when it releases on December 10, 2025. If Lucario can get a Z form, then surely there will be other Pokémon with one (cough Charizard cough). It’s too early to tell how this Z evolution will change Lucario’s stats or types, but we won’t have long to find out.
If you happen to own the game and want something to do before the DLC hits, a new side mission has been added to the game focused on Mewtwo. Everyone’s favorite original legendary Pokémon, players can now complete a side mission to add Mewtwo to their Pokédexes. In addition to that, the in-game news section is giving away Mewtwonite X and Y stones to mega evolve your newly captured Mewtwo in battle. I would be stunned if Mewtwo doesn’t wind up getting a Z form, as well.
As for what Nintendo Wire thought of Legends: Z-A, our own Ricky Berg wrote in his review,
“Rolling credits on Pokémon Legends: Z-A felt like the end of possibly the most varied era in series history. The Switch hosted six mainline Pokémon games and all of them managed to do things differently. I wouldn’t call Z-A the strongest of them (I’m most partial to Sword and Shield and Legends Arceus, in case you were wondering), but its shorter length and brisker pace made playing through it one of the best experiences for the franchise in recent memory.”
