We’re still a long way off from the May 7th, 2027 release of the live-action Legend of Zelda movie, but Nintendo clearly knows fans are eager for anything they can get their hands on. Earlier this morning, the company released three brand-new images through the Nintendo Today app, giving us our first look at Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link in full costume. I highly recommend checking out the Nintendo Today app to see the full slideshow in action. Alongside the images, Nintendo included an orchestrated rendition of Zelda’s Lullaby that plays as you watch. As for the pictures themselves, it’s interesting to see Princess Zelda wearing what appears to be a Breath of the Wild–inspired outfit, while Link is dressed in a more traditional Twilight Princess / Ocarina of Time–style tunic (minus the cap). Will the film adapt one of these stories, or will Nintendo create something completely new? Personally, I’m inclined to believe we’re looking at an entirely original tale — but only time will tell!
The Legend of Zelda movie is currently being filmed in New Zealand and is directed by Wes Ball.
