During Sony’s “State of Play Japan” stream today, Square Enix announced that it would be releasing a demo for Octopath Traveler 0 in the lead up to its release next month. Said to contain around three hours of content, the demo includes the introduction, the character creator, and allows players to transfer their saves to the main game. While announced for the PS4 and PS5, the demo is available on Switch 2 right now!

To recap, Octopath Traveler 0 is something of a prequel to the main series. Built off of the mobile exclusive Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, the game features a continent spanning adventure with full character customization and remixed story elements. Players will travel the realm of Orsterra to gather resources, amass a party, and rebuild their hometown after its destruction. A digital deluxe edition will include a whole host of extra features, though the physical Switch 2 release will be a game-key card.
Octopath Traveler 0 hits PC and consoles on December 4, 2025.
