In a rather hilarious bit of leakage last night, NYC supermarket chain Tops has accidentally revealed Yoshi’s design for the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie. While not previously confirmed to appear in the film, Yoshi was teased at the end of the previous Mario movie and an El Salvadorian theater chain leaked his potential inclusion. This new product, which is a package of pre-cut cookies from Pillsbury, pretty much confirms that Yoshi will have a major role in the sequel.
The box design also confirms one other aspect that I hadn’t even considered: the Comet Observatory will feature in the film. That makes sense as Rosalina and the Comet Observatory were two of the main aspects introduced to the series from Super Mario Galaxy, but I didn’t even think Rosalina would make an appearance. I’m not sure what Illumination and Nintendo are planning for this film, other than an adventure that takes place across the Galaxy.
Initially spotted by users on Reddit, the packaging also features an emblem of Bowser Jr. on the reverse side. While we don’t get a look at Jr.’s design, this further reinforces the leak from that El Salvadorian theater which stated the character would appear in the film. This new product was likely meant to launch sometime next week as it has been rumored that a new trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will debut alongside Wicked For Good on November 21st, 2025. Whatever the case, we now know that Yoshi will feature more prominently in the sequel.
