Earlier this week, we got a reveal of a brand new Mega Evolution in the form of my friend Malamar, and I truly thought we’d have to go a bit to see the next reveal. However, in today’s Nintendo Direct, we got a total of five new Mega Evolutions. Not only that, we’ve received confirmation on upcoming paid DLC for Legends Z-A.

The Kalos starters have officially received Mega Evolutions. While they should have received them 12 years ago, better late than never! Chesnaught gets a regal form, gaining a cape and two shields around its head. Delphox is now a full on witch, riding on a broom with burning sticks flying around. Greninja doesn’t change much physically but is now wielding a huge Water Shuriken that it can hang off of. Honestly, they all look incredible and I’m glad they’re finally receiving the Mega love.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension

The big news, however, is the upcoming DLC. Titled Mega Dimension, this expansion will feature Hoopa and looks like we’ll be able to travel beyond Kalos, to an area called Hyperspace Lumiose. Now, anywhere else is absolutely speculation because we don’t know, but what we do know is new Megas will come with Mega Dimension.

We got two reveals today, Mega Raichu X and Y. Both will be exclusive to the Mega Dimension DLC and seem to be similar to Mewtwo X & Y, where Mewtwo and Raichu X will focus on physical attacks and Mewtwo and Raichu Y use special attacks. While it’s not a full on Gorochu moment, this is huge!

An important thing to note: The Kalos starters were included in a leak of all new Megas and seemingly match up, confirming the leaks as true. However, Raichu X/Y were not on this list and are brand-new.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A release date

Pokémon Legends: Z-A releases on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on October 16th, 2025. The Mega Dimension DLC will give you special Holo-X and Holo-Y apparel items that are available at launch, but the story content is planned for release on February 28th, 2026.

Over on the Legends Z-A website, more information was revealed about how to obtain the Mega stones for Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja. It seems all three will be given out as rewards for playing in online Ranked Battles through the Z-A Battle Club.

Greninja’s stone will be available at launch on October 16th, while Delphox’s stone will be available as a Season 2 reward, and Chesnaught as a Season 3 reward. It’s not currently known how long Seasons will be and how they will work, but it did mention that details about Season 4 and beyond will be announced later, meaning we could get more Megas tied to the Ranked Battle system.

As of now, this will be the only way to obtain the three stones, as they are not obtained in regular gameplay.

Pokémon HOME Compatibility

We also received confirmation of Pokémon HOME compatibility, but be warned: Pokémon caught in Z-A will not be transferable to previous titles, and if you transfer a Pokémon from a previous game to Z-A, it won’t be possible to transfer it back. However, it does seem that it will have compatibility with Pokémon Champions.
