Nintendo has announced a brand-new 2D platformer starring Yoshi for Nintendo Switch 2.

Rounding out the Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary segment in today’s Nintendo Direct presentation was the reveal of Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

When a talking book called Mister Encyclopedia (Mr. E for short) falls from the sky, Yoshi jumps into its pages to explore the mysterious creatures illustrated within. As he explores, more of the book fills out.

It has a very adorable and unique visual style, with slow-frame animation reminiscent of a stop-motion style.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 in Spring 2026.
