Are we about to learn about a Super Mario Galaxy movie?

A web domain created by NBCUniversal is suggesting that the upcoming sequel to the Super Mario Bros. Movie may be titled Super Mario Galaxy. As shared by BlueSky user Wario64, web domain “supermariogalaxy.movie” was registered on September 3rd by NBCUniversal and updated today September 11th.

Up to this point, we have heard precious little about the Mario movie sequel. We know that it will feature Yoshi per a post credits scene in the Super Mario Bros. Movie and that it will release on April 3rd, 2026.

Previously, NBCUniversal had accidentally let slip a “Super Mario World” title in a list of upcoming films, seemingly relating to the second Mario movie, before promptly deleting the list. If Super Mario Galaxy is truly the title of the upcoming sequel, it will certainly be going bigger in scope and potentially introducing new characters such as Rosalina or Bowser Jr.

No trailer or confirmation of this title or information has been released by Nintendo or NBCUniversal, but we are just a short time away from an hourlong Nintendo Direct happening tomorrow morning. With this coinciding with Mario’s 40th anniversary, it’s fair to expect some Mario news to be included in that.

As soon as we know more, we’ll update this story.
