In a rather cryptic post from Hobonichi on Twitter, the Japanese retailer announced that it will be hosting a special broadcast to celebrate the 31st anniversary of Mother 2, known in the West as Earthbound. When is the event set to take place?
Tonight, August 26th, 2025 at 8:15 p.m. Talk about surprise announcements.
Set to kick off from the Shibuya PARCO 8F, the broadcast will reportedly unveil the new “Mother no Katachi” exhibit, which I’m assuming is an expansion of the already available Mother museum that includes the original figurines used for marketing purposes. Series creator and director Shigesato Itoi will make an appearance, which is bound to be a treat for fans.
I would not look into this broadcast as being something more than it is. Nintendo is not directly involved with Hobonichi’s shop, so don’t expect a surprise reveal of a Mother 2 remake or anything. This is bound to simply be a way for Itoi and fans to reminisce about three decades of Mother.
