One of the most contentious topics among video game fans over the years is the price of products. From new systems to their games, each generation sees a bump in price that often causes unrest. That being said, it’s not often that a previous-generation system sees a significant price change after the next console takes over the reins. Despite this, it seems that’s what is set to happen for the original Nintendo Switch, at least in Canada.

This news of the pricing change comes via an article shared on the Nintendo website. The update states that the original Nintendo Switch, including the Lite and OLED models, will receive changes to their prices according to market conditions. This adjustment extends to accessories, physical and digital games, amiibo, and even Nintendo Switch Online memberships. That being said, these proposed changes will not apply to the Switch 2 or any of its games and accessories, so those hoping for a price decrease on the latest system are out of luck for now.

What these price adjustments will entail remains to be seen. It wasn’t stated whether the changes will be in the form of an increase or a decrease, only that more information will be shared on August 1st later this year. All that can be done for the time being is to wait to find out more in another month or so.
