Of all of the games to come out within the past decade, it’s undeniable that Hollow Knight was one of the most impactful even among bigger studio releases. Originally released in early 2017, Hollow Knight took the world by storm, and following that success, a sequel game called Hollow Knight: Silksong was revealed in 2019. Now, over six years later, Silksong has made a name for itself as one of the most anticipated games of all-time, with the game confirmed to be coming sometime this year. In fact, a recent announcement from an Australian museum might even suggest a summer release window.

The information comes via ACMI, Australia’s national museum of screen culture. A new playable exhibition at the museum known as Game Worlds was announced with Hollow Knight: Silksong as one of the titles that would be featured. A sprite sheet for the protagonist Hornet was also shared, which will be featured at the museum alongside the game as well. The Game Worlds exhibit is set to arrive on September 18th, 2025, and seeing as Silksong will be present and fully playable, many have found themselves wondering what this means for the game’s inevitable release.

To many, this news seems to suggest that Hollow Knight: Silksong will see an official release before September 18th, seeing as it would otherwise be spoiled at Game Worlds. While there’s no official confirmation in that regard, it does seem plausible if nothing else. Seeing as the game was also briefly featured at the Nintendo Switch 2 presentation, that might suggest it will release sometime after the system, which would put it between June and September. There’s no way to know for the time being though, so be sure to keep an eye out for more news during these next few months!
