Save your diamond rings this Valentine’s Day — Early Nintendo Switch 2 units have been spotted selling on the Chinese Black Market priced at a wild $40,000.
This report comes via the Nintendo Switch 2 subreddit from a Xiahongshu forums user who obtained a CAD model of the Nintendo Switch 2 last year. This same user also provided the internet an early look at the design of Nintendo’s upcoming console before it was formally revealed by the company themselves last month.
This user shared a screenshotted conversation with a Black Market seller that contained confirmation of a Nintendo Switch 2 model complete with dock and Joy-Con being sold to the user for ¥290,000 RMB, equating to about $39,780 in USD.

This is of course an opportunistic move to obtain an early model and attempt to sell to manufacturers who are wanting to test accessories on a real Nintendo Switch 2 unit. In other words, the Xiahongshu forums user find that the exorbitant amount of money spent to obtain the system model will be worth the cost.
There is not yet any confirmation that the aforementioned user has this Nintendo Switch 2 unit in hand yet. However, they are certainly closer than people like you and me who are anticipating Nintendo’s official presentation of the console on April 2nd, 2025.
