In the long history of gaming, the exploration of different genres has been one of the key ways that franchises have evolved. One of the earliest genres to take hold was the beloved RPG format, with turn-based gameplay and a focus on story. With how long this formula has existed, there are naturally a lot of long-standing titles with devoted fanbases out there with nothing new to show for themselves in a long time. With this in mind, it’s always welcome to see legacy titles getting new content in the modern day. Such is the case for the LUNAR series, which was recently revealed to be receiving a remastered bundle set for release on April 18th this year!
The LUNAR Remastered Collection will be available on Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC with a digital price of $49.99. A physical version will be available as well for $54.99 as an Amazon exclusive, with a reversible cover containing all-new key art by Toshiyuki Kubooka. Two games are included as part of the collection: LUNAR: Silver Star Story Complete as well as LUNAR 2: Eternal Blue Complete. These titles originated as remakes all the way back in 1996 and 1998 respectively, with their original games going even further back to 1992 and 1994. This will be the LUNAR franchise’s first return to home consoles in nearly 30 years, so there’s plenty to be excited about.
The LUNAR Remastered Collection offers a fresh yet nostalgic take for these two critically-acclaimed games, so be sure to keep an eye out for more news regarding pre-orders and purchase links as April draws ever nearer. For now though, all there is to do is patiently wait until the collection finally arrives this spring!
