After years of speculation and anticipation, publisher Forever Entertainment has finally announced that its House of the Dead 2 remake will finally be seeing the light of day this year. Revealed alongside a new trailer, the aptly titled “The House of the Dead 2: Remake” will be hitting Switch and all major platforms in Spring 2025. Much like the previous remake of the original House of the Dead, this redo for its much-beloved sequel will include brand new graphics, redone voice lines, tweaked audio, and gyro controls on compatible platforms.
The trailer doesn’t reveal a whole lot that we couldn’t have guessed based on the last HOTD remake. The House of the Dead 2: Remake will still be running on Unreal Engine 4, will still have almost cartoonish levels of gore, and will still likely run pretty poorly on Nintendo’s platform. With the Switch 2 hopefully releasing this year, that last aspect could wind up being a moot point for people willing to upgrade their devices. Even still, having a classic like this ready to go on a portable device is a pretty neat thing.
Going by the price of the last remake and even Forever Entertainment’s other releases, we can expect that The House of the Dead 2: Remake will be $24.99 when it releases. There is bound to be some digital bundle that packages it with the first game if you haven’t gotten that yet, which might be a good way to go.
